A Hiking I will Go

Someone had mention I should try to VLOG, but not actually knowing what to do. I began thinking long and hard about it then one day an idea popped into my head. I can combine promoting exercising, eating healthy, take my viewers on an adventure through live streaming, taking pictures of my travel, lots of editing involve then I decided to try something I have not done since college where we would hike up to the monogram in Lynchburg and Sharp top trail in Bedford.

College was where I did a lot of hiking with friends while getting exercise and enjoying the outdoors. Now before I document my travels on this new adventure I must see what equipment I have available. A good documentarian needs a camera bag, tri-pod, wireless mic, but i still could not find the perfect camera which can handle the footage. A light bulb popped into my head that I can use my Samsung S8 phone which has amazing videos that I can take off with a USB, so the phone is not overloaded.

Now where should I go first? Middlesex county just opened a .5 mile hiking trail nearby, This is where the journey starts as I look to lose weight, exploring nature, and creating new content for my viewers. By the end of the summer I would have completed 8 or more hiking trails with different views, that will go along with this post to highlight where I have been and the adventures I run into. I will say that before starting on any adventure, you need to always be prepared for anything and drink lots of water. Hydration is key to

1. Cooks Corner Nature Hike- Middlesex County .5 miles.

Some of the cool aspects about this hike was that it was very short and easy to hike. The Three bridges where handmade along with a tree bench. I ended up hiking this trail like 3-4 times while making live videos and recording for my VLOG. Hope you can check it out.

2. Waharni Loop Trail- Lanexa, Virginia (New Kent County) 3 miles 1 hour completion.

This hike was more complex and confusing for some if you do not study the maps or trails beforehand. There were lots of climbs and I eventually ended up in the creek bed where I just happen to see a black snake which scared me half to death. If it was not for my All Trails app on my phone I would have been lost on this short hiking trail which I have never been to. If you are looking for an adventure or to go mountain biking this place is a good trail for you. I stayed on trail A most of the time then ventured into Trail B for a little bit.

The picture above is right when you get to the hiking area, so you can meet up with some of your friends, while the picture below you start the trails. Instead of coming back on the left side, I ended up coming back to the original starting position.

Two things I need to remember, Pack a backpack with H20 and start the all trails app before I begin the hike.

3. Chancellorsville Battlefield History Trail- Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania, Virginia 4.4 miles 1.5 hours for completion

If you are into history and hiking, this trail is for you because throughout the trail there is something of historic importance for you to see. I was only able to make it through the first stage that let out where the wheat field is grazing. The overall trail is a good hike with no hills, just some twist and turns as you learn more about the confederate civil war battle that went on through this journey. The sad part of this journey was where two infants had died in the house which is no longer there, just the foundation. You get to see trenches where they dug to take cover from the enemy. There is a moderate group of families that hike this trail. I recommend walking through history before coming to any conclusions on what books say.

I use to love hiking when I was college, now I have more motivation to hike in an effort to lose weight, scenery changes, have some alone time, content creating, good exercise, and so much benefits when it comes to hiking.

Psalms 139:7-10; 12 sums up my reasons for hiking and that no matter where I am God is with me, we cannot run or hide from God.

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast… even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.” (Psalm 139: 7-10; 12)
